KARL PLEWKA

Karl Plewka is an internationally renowned fashion editor and stylist whose career spans over twenty years in the industry. He began his fashion training assisting Vivienne Westwood which led to the role of assistant fashion editor, then fashion editor of The Observer.

In 1996, Karl was head hunted to lead the fashion team at Interview magazine in New York. In his position as fashion director, he regularly styled shoots with photographers including Ellen Von Unwerth, Karl Lagerfeld, Steven Klein and David LaChapelle. He was also responsible for overseeing a large part of the magazine, commissioning shoots, written content, interviews and many exciting artistic collaborations.

In 2001, Karl returned to the freelance world and London, where he continued to forge a strong collaborative bond with close friend, the late photographer Corinne Day. Their work featured regularly in Italian Vogue, Vogue Nippon, Vogue China, Vogue Hommes International, Raygun, i-D and Purple.

As a leading figure in the industry, Karl has worked as a stylist, art director and consultant for many campaigns, commercials and shows for clients including designers Bella Freud, Hermes, Hugo Boss, Guess, Alberta Ferretti, Cacharel, Agent Provocateur, John Rocha, Julien Macdonald, Rocco Barocco, Sharon Wauchob and All Saints as well as brands including David Beckham Fragrances, H&M, River Island, Max Factor, French Connection, Triumph, Jo Malone, Nars, Escentric Molecule and Gucci.

Karl is currently Editor of Beauty Papers magazine, has co-authored a book about the work of iconic make up artist Val Garland and in 2023 was appointed Fashion Consultant on a brand new global Netflix series, Geek Girl, which will air in Spring, 2024.
