Declan Sheils

Bio

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Declan originally studied Art & Design and obtained a National Diploma in Graphic Design. He started hairdressing whilst still studying design in 2000. In the summer of 2002, Declan began his career in hairdressing when he started working full time at Toni&Guy in Dublin.

In 2003, he moved to London to work in Covent Garden and in 2004/5 he qualified as a Stylist and Colour Technician at the Toni&Guy London Academy.

In July 2007, he began teaching alongside the world-renowned Toni&Guy International Artistic team at the New Oxford Street Academy, London and then throughout the UK. He was eventually was promoted to Artistic Director, which involved him leading educational seminars and creating imagery for the company. Declan gained recognition for his work as finalist at various L'Oreal and Wella competitions and winner of numerous hairdressing awards.

In 2008/9, Declan was awarded Master Colour Expert with distinction at the Wella World Studio London as well as completing a L’Oreal Colour Specialist degree. Moving more into session work in 2010, Declan began working at London Fashion Week and assisting top hairstylists Malcolm Edwards, James Pecis and Sam McKnight. Declan was regularly requested for various show work at International Fashion Weeks and worked as first assistant to Sam McKnight for 3 years.
